Reaching consumers through the web and it's lushness of social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and Myspace; I-phone apps brought to us by Macintosh; game apps; and advertising possibilities, is the new way of advertising. We have all heard print is dying. Even myself a hopeless romantic about keeping print alive, is jumping on board for creating clever ways of sending a message in a new way via the internet. Grand Marnier is dropping $4 million for advertising on the web. In addition to converting their ads to the web, they've transitioned the look of their ads which last had a "contemporary vibe" to an illustrative, bold, modern French esthetic. Oh-la-la. Accompanying this new campaign, A limited edition bottle in the “La Vie Grand Marnier” spirit will also be sold in select stores at the suggested retail price of $64.99. Different packaging referencing its new French aesthetic, but same great recipe. One thing Scott Green vp of marketing and sales for Marnier-Lapostolle group had to say about this was,
"We are absolutely committed to digital”.
And there we have it...another product going digital.

Erickson Stock
In a perfect world, I would have the time to travel to rare and uncharted places. As a full-time design student I definitely don't have time nor the resources. This site may just be useful to me as I am required to have flawless executions on my final advertising concepts. The teachers suggest checking out stock footage sites, Erickson Stock says "Download your next Campaign". It's perfect. I discovered this one while reading GD USA magazine.

When a gallery closes...
When a gallery closes after a successful run of holding art exhibits and social gatherings, it is sad to say goodbye to such memories. It can be exciting as well, to embark on a new journey as a gallery curator. Sixspace was open in Los Angeles for six years. When the editor of art.blogging.La.com, Caryn Coleman let go of her gallery, she posted the news online. Thanks to the internet, it saved sending out millions of postcards and waste.

Block Dot Online Promotional Video Games
How does advertising successfully reach an audience which is being bombarded with product endorsement everywhere they turn. This is a challenge which all brands must figure out if they choose to advertise online. Blockdot, with surprising success creates games which in return achieves purchase intent and brand recognition. Baskin Robins used Blockdot to create an online game which promoted their new flavors. The game Office Invaders references the popular 80s video game Space Invaders and the hit film "Office Space." As people play the game and pass more difficult levels, they would win a printable $1 coupon for any Cappuccino Blast drink. Another level of this games success is that it won win two awards from PROMO magazine—beating out over 600 entries. Wow, this isn't traditional advertising but its fun and I think it makes a huge difference if I can engage with a product I like. Play Office Invaders at http://officeinvaders.kewlbox.com/

"Any Given Name" is the name
I checked out www.anygivenname.org and found that the title of this site, stays fixated on the top right side the screen floating above the pages content. Despite all information you may be scrolling through it's bright green presence is always there reminding me of its identity.

What inspired me to start a blog?
I went to class on Tuesday 09/01/09 with the awareness that I would be taking a web design class called Digital Innovation. I was predicting a precursor to my Flash 1 class, with the expectation of creating something really different then what I've seen on the web already. When I received the syllabus, I became informed that I will be starting a blog. A blog about anything and everything related to design and specifically design on the web. Most importantly this is going to be a blog derived from inspiration. I've always wanted to start a blog about design but never found the time. This is going to be a perfect class for me. It must be said that I've been working on computers since the 2nd grade in 1990. Computer technology has advanced far beyond what I could have imagined at that time. I began Design school in 2005. This is my final year at Otis College of Art and Design, as I took a year off to contemplate life. I've been studying Graphic Design with emphasis on getting a degree in Advertising. Advertising is apart of our world and influences our culture in so many ways. Advertising has made it's way into the World Wide Web and I believe for the better. It will waste less paper, and hopefully give people an opportunity to see something new and engage with a brand in an eye opening way. I will post lots of information here about design on the web and as I learn about advertising on the web, samples of what I find and create will be listed also.
This blog will transform over the next 3 months. I hope you will learn about what inspires me and maybe be inspired too.
